FUELhouse Recipe Round-Up

Here at the House, we know what we like. Loud music. Swinging iron. Getting sweaty. Climbing stuff. Mid-workout dance breaks. The occasional cold beer. Annnnd.....we like food. The good stuff, ya know? Not the yucky, bland, typical diet food. We train to be able to enjoy our lives for the long haul, and we know that making our healthy food taste awesome is the best way to ensure that we want to keep eating it!

90% of the time I consider myself a meal "assembler." I have a few basic proteins, carbs, and veggies that I love, can make quickly, and keep on rotation, combining them with convenient grab and go options from places like Trader Joe's or Met Market to round out my daily meals. Every so often though, I get in a little bit of a "prep rut" and need to step outside the box and get some fresh ideas to keep my eatin' a little jazzier.

So, in honor of the kickoff of our Winter Recharge program, here's some of the recipes I'm making and loving right now. All are fairly simple, totally healthy, and can be easily prepped in bigger batches for quick lunches or dinners later in the week but most important - they taste really effing good.

Protein: Build Your Muscles!

Nom Nom Paleo's Slow Cooker Korean Short Ribs

Diane Sanfilippo's Mustard Glazed Chicken  (Coach Meg's note: I have made these, no lie, about 50 times. They are probably my favorite dish. I use boneless skinless chicken thighs or breast tenderloins because I honestly can't be bothered to deal with skin when I'm prepping lunches. The sauce makes them delicious.)

Mel Joulwan's Oven Fried Salmon Cakes

Starchy Carbs: Recover From Your Workouts!

FRENCH FRIES - well, sort of!

Garlic Smashed Potatoes

How to Make Overnight Oats - use almond milk for a creamy flavor and pair them with your morning scrambled eggs

Veggies: EAT THEM.

Asian Pear Slaw

Roasted Fennel (try something new, why doncha?)

Snap Peas with Lemon and Mint

And that's a wrap! If you tested any of these recipes, snap a quick photo, post it on FB or IG using the hashtag #FUELhouseEATS, and tell me what you thought. Go forth and get cookin'.
