Healthcare

THE FH COLLECTIVE

A place where members can communicate with healthcare professionals, fitness experts, and nutrition coaches all under the same roof! We’re like the Brady Bunch of Healthcare & Fitness. We are a family of Physical Therapists, a Pelvic Floor Specialist, Pilates, Structural Medicine, Nutrition Coaching, Personal Training and more.

Our ultimate goal: To bridge the gap between the traditional medical model and fitness.

Take care of your body and schedule time with our family of experts today (virtually or in-person)!

Dr. Jill McVey, PT

A licensed athletic trainer and physical therapist, I've worked with nearly every kind of mover, shaker, musician, and athlete you can think of since 2000, with a keen interest in solving the most complex cases out there.

I founded Riot Physical Therapy in 2020 so I could help drive social change through my practice. A sick, poor populace can't participate in democracy, and I am not having that in my community! At Riot, I emphasize teamwork, education, and self-sufficiency while offering a sliding scale payment structure free of the boundaries imposed by private insurance.

Learning to care for your body throughout your lifespan is profoundly interesting and fun -- let's nerd out together!

Dr. Anna Friedman, DPT

Dr. Anna Friedman, DPT is a proud Ballard local (yes they do exist!). She’s an avid runner, hiker and mountaineer (she’s summited Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker and Mt. Adams to name a few), craft beer lover and life enthusiast with a passion for building community and setting the bar higher for the way we practice and experience physical therapy.

Dr. Anna loves working with outdoor athletes of all levels (everyBODY is an athlete!). She also enjoys empowering womxn to feel strong and confident in their bodies in all stages in life, including during pregnancy and postpartum. In addition to PT, Dr. Anna offers personalized coaching and training programs for those who want more accountability with their health and wellness, or are training for their next race or climb.

Dr. Anna believes that most everyone could benefit from having a PT (or “Movement Doctor”) as a resource in their lives, and values building a long-term relationship with her patients focusing on injury prevention and building sustainable movement routines. Understanding your personal motivations and having accountability through a provider you trust is so important!

It is safe to say that you will generally find Dr. Anna somewhere outside. Whether that’s exploring a new hiking trail with her fiancé Mike and pup Bergen, skiing the alpine slopes in the winter, or sitting on a patio enjoying a pint and planning her next travel adventure at one of the many wonderful Ballard breweries. She can also be found listening to an inspiring podcast while sipping a cold brew from her fav local spot in Phinney Ridge, and sharing laughs and stories while spending time with family and friends.

Fun fact: Dr. Anna is also the leader of the @frelardrunclub! #earnyourbeer

Julianne Simpson, PT, DPT

Julianne Simpson, PT, DPT is a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist and the owner of Circle Physical Therapy. I help people of all genders improve their pelvic function including pelvic joint or low back pain, urinary or fecal incontinence or urgency, pelvic pain including endometriosis, pain with sex, constipation, hip impingement, issues around pregnancy and post-partum, pudendal neuralgia, and most other pelvic dysfunction. As an orthopedically trained physical therapist, I also enjoy treating pain in the cervical spine, shoulders, knees, and hips. I use a trauma-informed lens when I treat and endeavor to create a safe space for anyone who needs to heal their body. My treatment philosophy is founded on looking for the source of symptoms and empowering my patients by teaching them tools to manage their symptoms. Modalities I frequently use include visceral mobilization, fascially-based treatment, treatments from the Postural Restoration Instiute (PRI), Julie Wiebe, PT, and Movement Systems Impairment (MSI) syndromes. For fun, I enjoy swinging a kettlebell or two at FuelHouse, cycling, surfing, walking my rescue mutt Penny, and spending time with my husband and two kids.

I get to observe and facilitate clients reaching personal goals as well as join in on the excitement that comes with realizing that change can happen and healing is possible. For me this is awesome, your health and happiness is what motivates me and I truly cannot wait to work with you.

Dr. Sam Chernak, PT, DPT, PCES

Dr. Sam is a pelvic floor physical therapist, pilates specialist and strength coach who specializes in helping folks with chronic back pain and postpartum moms build strength and return to their favorite workouts without pain or peeing their pants!

I help women who want to lift heavier weights, go for runs, do box jumps, jump rope or chase their kids around without worrying about their back pain or leaking. We do that through the magical combination of movement-focused physical therapy, pilates-based pelvic floor and core training, and strength coaching. I believe everything is connected in mind, body and spirit, and approach the body and movement through a holistic lens.

If your goal is to get back under the barbell but you’re nervous about flaring up your back pain, have back pain every time you swing a kettlebell, or have the desire to run and jump without leaking, I’d love to support you and help you crush your goals!
