LOVE LETTER FROM COACH B

FHcontent-132.jpg

I am starting a monthly 5-Bullet Review of the things I am loving right now.  The goal here is to stimulate connection and share with you what I am learning and doing as a coach to best support my clients, our FUELhouse family, and my own health (both mental & physical). I am open to feedback and discussion!

1. Listening to Jocko Podcast & The Joe Rogan Experience -

Jocko Podcast is a great listen if you are looking for ways to improve your self-discipline and/or your leadership skills. Jocko Willink is a decorated retired Navy SEAL officer, author of the book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win, and co-founder of Echelon Front, where he is a leadership instructor, speaker, and executive coach.

The Joe Rogan Experience is a great listen because of the long conversation format where he and his wide range of guests can deep dive into complex topics.

2. Mindfulness: I have devoted myself to daily meditation practice and am finding that committing to every.single.day. has a dramatic impact versus doing it a few times per week, or only when I feel the "need." I have been practicing meditation with the help of the Calm app since late January '18, and I must say that it has been arguably the most valuable tool I've ever used.

3. Quote: "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

4. Currently Reading: 'Help First: Sell Less, Profit More' by Chris Cooper

This is a book that was given to me by the one and only Molly Kieland! Chris Cooper is a gym owner and founder of Two Brain Business, a mentorship group that Molly has been working with for a few years now. Chris's book says it all in the title -- it's all about understanding that the more ways I can HELP my clients (and anyone else, really) the less I will have to think/worry about SELLING my service, and in turn, both parties profit more. Part of my passion behind the decision to become a coach lies in the fact that I knew it would be a career path that would force me to always be putting my best foot forward and continue to seek improvement. This book is proving to be a great tool for increasing my ability to help others through my service.

5. Currently Working On #75HARD Challenge

As I may have mentioned or you may have seen online if you're in the FUELhouse Warriors group, Coach Molly, Coach Tiff, Coach Dre, and I are all participating in the #75HARD Challenge. After having to restart on Day 9 due to the smoke keeping me from going outside, I have restarted and am now on day 17. It is a challenge designed to help build mental fortitude. If you have any interest in learning more, check out the link and/or listen to Episode 14. of the REAL AF w/ Andy Frisella podcast titled, "#75HARD: A Tactical Guide To Winning The War With Yourself"

We also have a FYF50 Challenge kicking off on Tuesday if you are interested in joining!

Thank you for taking the time to read through this email. I would like to close with a quick gratitude practice. Feel free to reply with gratitude of your own!

  • I am grateful for gardening. This was my first summer doing any real gardening & it has given me a unique opportunity to connect to the cycle of life & death, and to the natural beauty that is life.

  • I am grateful for growth. Typically growth happens on the other side of our comfort zones, and letโ€™s just say that this year has had me out of my comfort zone quite often!

  • I am grateful for comedy because of the laughter it incites. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

Wishing you a strong week ahead! Let me know how I can be of help.

Yours in Great Strength,

Coach Brian
